From accounting to theology, SLU-Madrid’s summer session classes are intensive. They typically meet from Mondays through Thursdays for five weeks. Students may enroll in up to seven credits in the summer session. All courses are accredited and fulfill Saint Louis University degree requirements. Integrated into many of the courses are cultural activities and excursions.
Working professionals can earn their M.A. in Spanish during the summer.
Enroll in graduate classes that run from late June to the end of July and complete the full degree over the course of three or four summers. Focus on your job during the school year and spend the summers in linguistic and cultural immersion while in Madrid.
SLU-Madrid is a community of scholars who care. Our Spanish faculty hold Ph.D.'s from leading European and U.S. universities. You’ll learn to research, to motivate, to critique, to read and to think, all while reconnecting with your passion for teaching Hispanic culture and the Spanish language.
Saint Louis University’s School of Law’s ABA-approved Summer Law Program in Madrid offers six weeks of rewarding comparative and international law education in one of the most exciting, historical and culturally rich cities in the world.

With more than 15 years of running camps for teens, SLU-Madrid will once again partner with Colegio San José in Villafranca de los Barros (Badajoz, Spain) to offer: “Extreme Science Experience.”
This adventure into language learning through science and technology takes place during the first two weeks of July. Its goal is to promote the understanding of the world we live in and the languages we speak. The camp is open to both English and Spanish speakers, aged 12 to 15, but spaces are limited. For more information, contact Hamish Binns at email@example.com.
No Spain, no gain. If you’re a student athlete, you may not have the chance to study abroad during the sports season. Join SLU-Madrid during the summer to earn credits towards your degree while keeping up with your training.
Our sports coordinator advises student athletes where to work out, run or swim. Competitive swimmers, for example, are invited to continue their high level of training at Spain’s most prestigious aquatics center, Real Canoe Natación Club. SLU-Madrid is committed to accommodating student athletes of all levels. For more information, contact César Rioja directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
SLU-Madrid’s commitment to internationalizing the health professions received special recognition in 2013 for its outstanding program in international nursing.
Pre-medical students are encouraged to gain clinical experiences in preparation for applying to U.S. medical schools. SLU-Madrid offers this in Spanish through shadowing a physician’s daily activities at one of Madrid’s hospitals or health care clinics.
SLU also offers unique summer programs for students pursuing degrees in other areas of the health science. Our athletic training program places students into field internships with Spain’s national sports teams, and we also offer nursing students a clinical immersion in hospitals in Spain.
For the pre-med shadowing program, students must have an overall GPA and a math and science GPA of at least 3.2 or higher to be considered; students must also be proficient in Spanish. For information about any of these programs, contact our Health Sciences Program Director, Tania de la Fuente, Ph.D., at email@example.com.
